"My District Nursing Placement at Jaunty Springs"

About: Primary and community services / Community Nursing

(as a staff member),

My journey

So I've reached the end of my journey,

and now I must go,

These past 3 years have been hard but rewarding,

I'm sure this you all know.

So now I will tell my story,

of how I made it through,

Of how my dream job became reality,

By being placed with you.

I Walked up those stairs,

that very first day,

You welcomed me with open arms,

smiles that made it all okay.

I thank you all each day

for making me just see,

That community is the place

that I was meant to be.

Now you must have been a good bunch, because I chose to return,

A whole year on in my training,

a hell of a lot to learn.

Each and every one of you,

has taught me something new,

Lifelong skills and qualities,

And how to make a brew.

We've all worked the late night hours, while others slept through,

Handled a doctors many moods,

And wiped up sick and poo.

Sometimes not appreciated,

When just a hug will do,

You should be proud of your profession,

And the work you do.

You stay strong through the critical memories,

Some bad and some good,

Then there are the tragedies

That will never be understood.

You travel miles to reach your patients, and still can smile when you hear someone say,

"Dads gone into hospital, he won't be needing you today. "

You can weather sunshine, blowing wind or the rain,

You know every corner of your district, every shortcut, road or lane.

You should always remember how special you are,

Even though sometimes there's not a lot in your purse,

Your worth a lot more than money,

Your a district nurse!

Now lets talk about jaunty,

by gosh there's only one,

There's no other team like you

Your the best bar none.

We've had our laughs,

and the tears,

we all love our Carole,

after a couple of beers.

No team will ever replace you,

this I know for sure,

your one of a kind,

your special through to the core.

So now ill say my thank yous,

For your patience and your time,

For answering my stupid questions and still being so kind.

Thank you for showing me

the necessary skills today,

That will lead me into tomorrow with confidence and faith.

Thank you for accepting me,

And the sheer joy I get over the small things I have done,

You encouraged my spirits and made my time with you fun.

Thank you for your continued support, and all that you have done,

You taught me to reach for my goals, and together we have won.

So now I'm all prepared

for you to send me on my way,

A new life, a new journey,

Will start for me today.

I don't want to get all soppy

and make myself cry,

But now is the time,

where I have to say bye bye

I'm gunna wrap this up now,

Coz All good things must come to an end,

All that's left to say is,

I began with colleagues, and now I'm leaving with friends.

The beginning of my poem said my journey had now done,

But now it's crystal clear

My journey has only just begun.

Many thanks for taking the time and effort to write such a heart felt reflection about the team at Jaunty Springs both in terms of the standards that they set and also the quality of the learning experience for students. We will ensure that the team see the poem which recognises their hard work and continued dedication to the service.
