"More than 2 hours delay for my elderly Mother's appointment"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Cardiology

(as a relative),

I took my elderly Mother for a routine appointment in the Cardiology Department and our appointment was at 3.30pm. We were told the appointments were running late by about 45 minutes, then an hour, then an hour and a half and then after over 2 hours we went in for our appointment. Whilst the staff had been very apologetic about our wait, the Doctor never acknowledged or apologised for our wait.

We were told that ten minutes is allocated for each appointment and at least two patients had been in their consultation for an hour. Whilst 10 minute appointments may shorten the waiting list for appointments the waiting time is ridiculous.

Our sympathies were with the staff who are on the frontline for the complaints made by disgruntled patients.
