Anything else?

My mother was recently taken into the QMC as an emergency. The emergency team treated both my mum and me with care and compassion and made sure that we were extremely well looked after. It soon became clear that mum was very ill indeed and she lost her life shortly after. However, the care we received from the paramedics, to the nurses, consultant, emergency doctors and finally the team on C31 was unparallelled and made her last few hours as comfortable, safe and peaceful as they could possibly be. I was especially surprised by how much time the teams took to speak with me and my brother and to make sure we were cared for and looked after at such a difficult time - something which went beyond their duty of care to my mum.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of your mother. We realise what a difficult time this must be for yourself and your family, and we are pleased that colleagues at our hospital were able to care for and look after you and your brother in the way that we did. We are glad to hear that you felt your mother was treated with compassion by everyone involved in her care. Thank you again for your kind words, which we will pass on to our colleagues in the Emergency Department and on ward C31.
