"Excellent experience in very difficult..."

About: University Hospital Of Hartlepool

Anything else?

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and required investigation and treatment. I was seen at the hospital within a week and had detailed investigations the same day as attending the out-patients appointment, although this did take a while everything was done that day. The outpatient clinic is busy and the waiting time can vary, however all staff are pleasant and do keep you informed of waiting times. The worst thing is waiting for the test results to come back, which I did understand takes some time, about 10 days in all, however the consultant did prepare me as much as he could. On return to the clinic the staff are so approachable and understanding as it is a difficult time. The support offered by the specialist breast nurse is excellent, she was extremely kind and supportive in such difficult circumstances. The staff do explain in detail what choices you have for further treatment. I received an operation date very promptly and my whole experience of going through the surgery was handled with great care. Staff on the ward where extremely helpful from the consultant, nurses and after care team. I still attend follow-up appointments at the clinic and can't thank the staff enough for their care and attention. Very grateful, thanks.
