"Hysterectomy due to massive fibroid"

About: Whiston Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a relative),

My mum was given a full hysterectomy at the beginning of June, following a scare in December when she was rushed in with severe Aneamia (blood count of 2.5). She was diagnosed as having a massive fibroid which obviously had it's own blood supply. After many months of agony, scheduled, cancelled and resheduled appointments she finally had her operation. Everything seemed to go ok, however she has now been told that her six week checkup, which should be around now, is actually going to be in November. She is experiencing some pain and discomfort in her abdomen but will not phone them as she thinks it is probably normal with the check up not being for another four months. I am really concerned is this normal or should we be demanding a check up sooner rather than later? should we seek help from our G.P?
