"Top service"

About: Leeds General Infirmary

Anything else?

I would like you to know about some great service I received today (25th November) on my leaving Day Care Cardiology. After my Cardioversion, I had phoned my wife from Ward L14, to pick me up. Having walked down to the Jubilee wing exit, I realised that I hadn't told her where to meet me. I went to the Payphones and neither were working. I walked to A and E, thinking that there may be a phone there, I asked at the reception... there wasn't. I turned and walked away from the A and E reception when I was approached by a Lady with a mop. She asked me if she could help me, and looked at the pad on my wrist where the Cannula had been removed. She said "Is there anyone I can phone for you,? you can use my phone". I explained my problem and said that her offer was very kind, I offred to payfor the call but she wouldnt accept payment. She dialled the number for me, and handed me her phone. (Very trusting, please be careful). My wife was driving, and didnt have her bluetooth speaker activated, so the call didnt go through. The lady offered to send a text to my wifes phone, telling her where I was waiting. Which she did without hesitating. I thanked her, again she refused the money offered, and finished our conversation by saying she was working around this area, and if I needed to use it again I was welcome.! I would like to say that this lady demonstrated great service, and should be recognised by your hospital. She demonstratd caring, although not clinical, she sought to assist me and made my exit from hospital feel so much better. I have thanked her again by text when I got home, but would like you to know of the kind of service this lady provided. I have worked in a service industry for 32 years, and I know that I like to know when my colleagues go the "extra mile" Finally, Thanks to all at Cardiology....all special people. Especially Ward L14 Day Care Cardiology Patient
