"My stay over my tonsillectomy"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

Anything else?

I went to hospital on Monday very nervous knowing I was having my tonsills removed. I was very scared as I have a severe needle phobia. The nurses & the surgeon knew this so I didn't faint having my canular they let me have gas this gave me a big relief knowing I wouldn't see or feel that. I soon woke up after my surgery but was very sickly n tired I tried my best to eat but was unfortunately being sick. I was scared to be disscharged as I lose my balance when feeling unwell I have fainted & been in bad ways with fainting, giving my self severe whiplash in my back, shoulders & neck so the decision was to keep me over night I was given a anti sickness tablet but this didn't work I was still being sick. Bless the nurse on her own didn't want to inject me with anti sickness because I would react. That morn my surgeon came by & said to the nurse give anti sickness threw the canula hours later I felt brilliant excited to have kept food down finally & was very happy to go home with my medication. They told me how much pain I would be in & they were right keep taking the medication regularly & I am great full that they was there for the evening because of how I felt they did me proud thank you to everyone that looked after me I realy was not looking forward to going in hospital. I'm relaxed knowing my mum going back today for her foot operation knowing they will all be the same thanks again mrs j m- broome

Having an operation can be very worrying so we are pleased that you were reassured by the staff and pleased with the care and treatment you received. Thank you for taking the time to let us know - your comments will be passed on to the department. We wish you well.
