"Emergency surgery for perforated ulcer"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital / Accident and emergency Royal Bolton Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

In late October, at approx 03:40 in the morning I was having very bad abdominal pain, so bad that my partner rushed me into the Royal Bolton hospital where I attended a and e.

I was quickly dealt with and given pain relief, then an emergency xray and scan where the staff soon discovered why I was in so much pain. It was a perforated stomach ulcer, an ulcer I never knew that I had. I was given emergency surgery to rectify my problem and was admitted for 10 days in all.

The care I received whilst I was in hospital was absolutely brilliant, from going in to coming out.

I spent most of my time there in ward E4 where the staff were great - Terri, Rob, Sister Teresa and all the staff of that ward, also not forgetting the staff on the high dependency ward, but most of all the surgeon and his team that saved my life.

I cannot praise these people enough for how they cared for me.
