What I liked

All the staff were warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The ward was clean and there seemed to be someone sweeping/mopping the floors on a daily basis. I was dreading my operation but everyone I came into contact with was lovely and made my stay much more pleasant. Thank you!

What could be improved

The food! Not great, but what hospital food is.

Thank you for taking the time to add your comments to the Choices website regarding your experiences at Harrogate District Hospital. It is pleasing to hear that you had good experiences of the staff at the hospital and that the hospital environment was kept to a good standard of cleanliness – this is something we constantly strive to achieve.

We also aim to provide good quality food that is freshly prepared in the hospital kitchens every day by a team of staff including qualified and experienced chefs, so I am sorry that the food did not meet your expectations on this occasion. We have just had our food rated as ‘excellent’ in the annual PEAT inspections so rest assured we do endeavour to keep standards as high as possible at all times.

I will of course share your comments with the nursing and catering teams and wish you a speedy recovery following your treatment.
