I would just like to bring to your attention how concerned i was about the lack of doctors in your accident and emergency department on this given night. I actually came to a & e 15/11/13 having received a call from a friend as her next of kin. We saw one Dr who was absolutely fantastic in explaining things and had a fantastic bed sized manner but when on an occassion i needed to raise a question i could hear the particular Dr in with another patient but none other to be found. Is this how a & e depts are now run on one Dr at night time? I have indeed looked at your CQC report and Poole hosp Emergency Services said in May 2013 said they are actively recruiting. Had this happened yet as i am quite concerned and apprehensive to return to Poole Hosp without adequate Doctors around.

Thank you for providing us with feedback following your visit to our Emergency Department (ED) to accompany your friend. At any given time, the number of doctors in Emergency Department (ED) varies between three and ten – between midnight and 8am there are a minimum of three doctors in the department. During the day and early evening these numbers will be higher, as more patients attend the department. The number of doctors that you observe will vary, as they are spread between the majors, minors and resus areas of the ED – and, of course, if there are very sick patients present, they will be treated as a priority and receive the majority of the doctors’ attention.
