"Ward 17 Scunthorpe "

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital / General medicine

(as a friend),

My friend was put on Ward 17 and remained there for two weeks. As a visitor the ward was clean with very few staff and I think we all understand the strain of the NHS.

But I was shocked by the attitude of the Staff I saw who did not speak once to either the patients or visitors even when carrying out tasks such as blood pressure or taking temperature even when asked why they were not speaking not a word was said!

What happened to the caring side of nursing. My friends prognosis was bad he had not eaten for four weeks meals were brought and left and taken away untouched a little bit of civility would have been welcomed.

Hello Jod, thank you for taking the time to post this. I'm sorry to hear your friend did not receive what would seem to be basic communication from staff; your comments are now being passed on to the ward team. This is something the Trust is working on improving - hospital staff are very busy but they should always at least speak to their patients, give their name and explain what they are doing.

Many thanks, Sarah Mainprize
