"Day Ward op Ward 19 - then onto Ward 18!"

About: Leicester General Hospital

Anything else?

I was due an operation as a day case on Ward 19 - This was a great ward, great checking in - had my own private room. Start to finish was excellent. All set for home and a rash appeared all over me - I was asked to stay in for a further 2 hours to keep an eye on this - I was then transferred to ward 18 - what a difference in two wards. No Doctor showed to see me, when she did she was no help - she arrived at 1.00am where both myself & hubby sat there wondering if we could go home. The Doctor advised I stay in … Pain relief just wasn't taken care off, you need to keep asking the nurses constantly - I was in tears. The morning staff that took over today I have never met such a rude nurse - just listen to me she kept saying in a loud voice, I wasn't offered any help with anything - I felt for the older people on the ward keep buzzing. I was offered no help to leave - I needed a wheelchair they just wasn't interested. My hubby searched for a chair for me, whilst he went to get the car he left me in the chair and I took unwell, a lady came to my rescue, she advised me to leave this review. I think she said she worked in patient care.. Thankyou so much for helping me Would i ever want to return to Ward 18 - Not a chance. What started out as a great experience on Ward 19 - Ward 18 was a very upsetting experience!

Dear reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. We're pleased to hear about your positive experience on ward 19 at the General, but are very disappointed that you didn't received the same high level of care on ward 18. This is unacceptable and we're really sorry to hear this. We appreciate your feedback as it gives us the opportunity to improve our services. We would like to investigate your complaint - please email matron Yvonne Kenmuir-Hogg on Yvonne.Kenmuir-Hogg@uhl-tr.nhs.uk if you would like to discuss this further. We hope you're feeling much better now. Kind regards, Communications team, Leicester's Hospitals Kind regards,
