"Thyroid treatment"

About: Suffolk PCT

(as the patient),

I have gone back to my GP twice and he called me in once since I had my dose increased to 125mcg Levothyroxine. Each time I felt I did not have enough dosage but GP said my blood test levels (TSH and FTS were tested) were normal. I felt that my only option was to go to a pivate endocrinologist - my GP said that a hospital endocrinologist would agree that the levels were normal and it would be wasting his time.

The private endocrinologist said the blood test levels warranted an increase in Levothyroxine, and my history certainly suggested it. He asked my GP to prescribe it, which he has done.

I do not think I should have needed to go to a private endocrinologist to get this decision.

I will be going back to the private endocrinologist for a review. This will again cost me, but if I cannot get suitable help from my GP then this will have to be. I felt that without more support, I would have to give up work. Now I feel I have some hope.
