"My husband suffered a serious ..."

About: Royal Preston Hospital / Cardiology

(as a relative),

What I liked

My husband suffered a serious accident recently which meant he was treated in Intensive Care at Preston for almost a week before being transferred to a cardiac ward and ultimately to another hospital. All of the staff who treated him were excellent.

What could be improved

The downside of the stay was the difficulty parking (as has already been mentioned) plus we found on virtually every occasion that the public toilet facilities were not as clean as you would like them to be. The single, unisex public toilet near intensive care particularly was most unpleasant.

Preston City Council unfortunately rejected a planning application by the Trust for additional car parking and this has meant that we are unable to provide extra spaces. However, we have gone to great lengths to improve the situation as best we can by moving staff cars off site with the introduction of park and ride facilities and the introduction of signage to direct drivers to free spaces. Our parking attendants are always on hand to provide assistance.

We have recently brought our cleaning services in-house and are striving to improve standards even further. However, we would always ask patients and visitors to notify a member of staff if an area does not meet their cleanliness expectations and it will be cleaned again.
