"I suffered from for yet another 3 months because TRAQS doctor felt I needed physio"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as a service user),

I feel I have to write and let you know how disappointed I am with TRAQS.

I understand that this is a new service but maybe after reading my survey form then some changes can be made.

I work in the care profession myself and I know that if you don't see a patient, you can not dictate what care that patient needs.

After my GP referred me to the orthopeadics, but then TRAQS doctor didn't feel it needed that route?

I suffered from for yet another 3 months because TRAQS doctor felt I needed physio. WRONG.

How a TRAQS doctor who has never seen or examined me can make a deicision is beyond me. After 3 months of physio and contuined pain the physio referred me to orthopeadics. It is now confirmed I have bursitis.

Thank you for providing feedback to TRAQS. I am sorry that you are disappointed with the service provided to you.

I would like to take this opportunity to outline how decisions are made with regards an orthopaedic referral. The referral is triaged by our experienced GPs who are required to follow a pathway which is read in conjunction with the letter your GP provides outlining your medical condition and history. No decision is taken lightly by our GP; in most cases if a referral is being changed for an appointment to a different clinic, this is discussed by the TRAQS GP with your GP.

It is very difficult to say exactly the circumstances in which it was decided that you should be seen by a Physiotherapist, as all feedback is anonymous. I can only presume that the information provided by your GP confirmed that it would be more beneficial for you to receive physio first in the hope that you condition could be eased without involving any medical intervention. I am sorry to note that this was not the case for you and you have now been referred to an Orthopaedic Consultant.

Nevertheless, given the above explanation I hope you can agree that the action taken was with your best interests in mind.
