"RTA on A39"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

I was on my motorcycle taking the correct line for Street from the A39 Wells direction when I was knocked off by a car. I remember seeing the car about to hit me then nothing until a policeman was talking to me as I was lying injured on the road.

The ambulance arrived and they quickly both reassured me and transferred me to the vehicle with minimal discomfort. They decided my injuries warranted the Air Ambulance and they took me to a suitable landing site locally.

asked one of the crew where they were from and she said Bridgwater when they transferred me to the helicopter.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the crew for all their help and reassurance.

Fortunately my injuries consisted only of fractured ribs lung contusions and a small pneumothorax and whilst bruised and sore the pelvis was intact.

I am now on the mend albeit slowly thanks to their help

Hi Mike Xvet

Thank you for sharing your story - I'm very pleased to hear that you are on the mend!

It is always so rewarding to hear stories of how our staff are continuing to provide excellent care to patients when they need it most.

We can pass on your thanks to all the ambulance crews who took part in your care. However to do this we will need to know when the incident took place. Please could I ask you to either call me on 01392 261 552 or email me at sara.coburn@swast.nhs.uk at your convenience and we can discuss this further.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide feedback.

Sara

Update posted by Mike Xvet (the patient)

Many thanks for contacting the members of staff involved I just wanted to express my grateful thanks to everyone who helped me that day. I am now almost back to normal with just a bit of muscle stiffness, in fact I went for a short ride on my bike today for the first time! I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year with not too many call outs!
