"Respiratory Problems"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital

Anything else?

I'd had problems with my chest, coughing, coughing up blood, pains, infections etc for over 18 months - my GP eventually made a referral to a Consultant at Arrowe Park, within 2 days of the referral I had an appointment. The first time I went I had a CT scan, it was a bit daunting with the injection etc, however, the nurses' were fantastic, I then went to the Consultant's Out Patients Clinic and had a whole host of other tests undertaken from blood pressure, weight, air capacity, heart – again all the nurses I met were fantastic and calming. Within a few hours I met the Consultant who examined me and gave me his opinion on the CT scan. I was only in the hospital a matter of a few hours. I was booked in for a bronchoscopy within a week, although this was a bit of an ordeal, it was professionally handled and again everyone I met was fantastic. A week later I met the Consultant again and he was able to tell me the good news that everything was normally. I’d been really worried for a long time, I feel like a great weight has been lifted, I had always hated Arrowe Park Hospital, from the view point of a visitor, however, I cannot say how well I was dealt with, there was no waiting around all day for procedures to be done, all the nurses without exception I met were brilliant and the Consultant was easy to talk to and reassuring.
