Our 7 year old has been waiting for an appointment at Ear Nose Throat clinic. We got a letter today saying the appointment for 25 November has been cancelled. That would already have been 11 weeks. Then there would be a wait for the operation. So far he has missed 22 days from school in 6 months due to tonsillitis. In frustration we went to a private consultant tonight which cost £150. He told us although our child needs his tonsils out, we would have to keep waiting for nhs treatment. The alternative is £2500 for a private op. Disgusting that nhs do not offer better treatment for a 7 year old. Especially as we have paid into the tax system for 22 years and had nothing back.
