I had a cyst removed from my testicle in the day operation ward. The following day I was in a lot of pain and discomfort and had a large swelling. I took my pain killers as directed but it did not help the pain. I tried to contact the department because I felt that the procedure had not worked for me and the stiches were weeping and it seemed that the stitching was sewn incorrectly. I tried to ask about my results at both my own doctors and hospital but was told that the notes were in a different department. I have had two ultrasound scans because I had an infection and had to take strong penicillin. I have also had a consultation with the surgeon who says that he felt that all was ok and that if I had another operation I would lose my testicle. I still feel that the sewing up was not done right as I get discomfort and a pulling from the new stitching. I am not the sort of person who keeps making complaints but in this case I do feel let down.

I am sorry to take so long responding, but I have been out of the office for the last fortnight. I am very sorry that you experienced complications from your operation and that the reasons for this were not quickly diagnosed. Unfortunately I cannot comment further as I do not have the details of your case in order to mount a further investigation. I am also unable to comment on any issues that relate to your GP service as they are managed by a different NHS organisation. I would advise you to return to your GP if you still have any concerns about your wound, or continue to experience discomfort. If you would like to provide your personal details and reiterate your concerns to Complaints@nbt.nhs.uk we will be happy to investigate further. I hope that your discomfort soon passes and that you recover from your surgery very soon. I have shared your comments with the Urology Management Team so the staff can be made aware of your concerns.
