Copy of message sent to Healthwatch East Sussex today. Please pass on to the Endoscopy Unit - Apologies Dept unknown I would like to send you a positive message on how the brilliantly well I found the NHS is performing in some places. On 24 October I went to the Endoscopy Dept. at Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards. Heath for Gastroscopy. The staff worked as a team dedicated to me. Their friendliness made me feel completely at home. Their quiet professionalism captured my confidence from the start. Although I had been apprehensive my experience was painless and totally free from distress. Every team member was kind, considerate and open throughout. Each explained what they would be doing in clearly understandable terms that a lay person could grasp but they were in now way patronising. And they listened to any queries and reassured me each point. Care during recovery was outstanding. There was no pressure on me to jump out of bed to free it for the next patient. They left it to me to decide when I felt fully well. They then called my husband and even offered him a cup of tea when he arrived to collect me. They were a wonderful example of how very well the NHS can perform given the best of buildings and a caring staff. I am copying this note to the hospital. Susan Crossett
