"Fithy fithy hospital with uncaring selfish staff"

About: Chase Farm Hospital

Anything else?

I have never written a review in my life but have been so outraged that I feel compelled to do so. My elderly and disabled husband, after having very major surgery was brought on an OT visit to a scabies infested area, against my express wishes that such a vulnerable post-op and immunocompromised patient should not be. He was brought in thin clothing and slippers shivering and freezing, without even his coat or even a blanket, whilst both the OT and Physio accompanying him, had their thick coats on. Worst the OT and Physio came fully clad in their disinfectant gear- aprons etc, whilst my husband was just brought in with no such protection. The staff only seem to care about protecting themselves, without any regard for the patient involved. This hospital is a disgrace. When I spoke to my husband in the evening he was in tears from this experience. The scabies was contracted from chase farm hospital in the first place and has infected my whole family. It is a dirty filthy hospital. when my husband was unable to sleep because of intense itching, rather than getting a doctor to examine him, the nurses told me he was apparently suddenly having a reaction to the starch in the sheets and I should bring in my own sheets for him. I lugged a bag of heavy sheets in on 2 buses- only to be told by another nurse that it is not " policy" to accept sheets from me! I would like a call from the chief executive. The way my husband was treated is unforgivable and is a disgrace. PS the dept. my husband is in does not even appear on your list! so I've had to post unknown dept.

The Trust apologies for the poor experience that your husband and family experienced whilst in Chase Farm Hospital. The response received is annonymised and therefore I am unable to escalate to the correct manager to respond to you. Could I request that you contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) Department to support you in gaining specific feedback to your concerns raised. They can be contacted on 0208 375 2378 - please leave your husbands name with his hospital number or date of birth and a contact number for staff to return your call if the staff are unable to answer. As an organisation we are committed from learning from specific issues and from any mistakes we may have made. Hearing about where we can do better helps us to pinpoint where exactly to make improvements to the service we provide. I really do hope that you will make contact for the manager to investigate and respond. If you are unhappy with the manager's response you can then formally complain via the Chief Executive Office.
