Anything else?
My Aunt was taken to ward 19 / 20 elderly care with a chest infection, and she fell on the smooth slippery floor in her bay with her walking stick which she was bizarrely allowed at her chairside. She broke her hip from this fall. I find this unacceptable that she was injured whilst in a supposed healing place. In my experience as a daily visitor here, staff disappeared at visiting time and were blasé about her injury. Elderly patients were shouting to use the toilet and no one would attend them, I also noticed that food was put down at lunchtime to the ladies in my Aunt;'s bay, but there was no one to help them eat it. I myself if I was in would feed the ladies and they would nod gratefully.(most of them had dementia, and were unable to manage spoon to mouth themselves.) I do not know how people can post good reviews on here about this particular hospital? There is a general bad opinion of it in South Shields as it truly is appalling. I notice it is regarded as Band 3 on the government's list of dangerous hospitals to the public.
