The Trust recognises that may people have personal devices that are Wifi enabled and would benefit from the kind of connectivity that exists in retail outlets and coffee shops nowadays. However, as a hospital that runs sensitive information on its network and whose internet connection is via a private NHS national network (N3), this is seen as a risk that cannot be resolved without management and investment in security products. The trust, at this time, has chosen not to divert funding into this area, which could be in excess of £100,000. However with regards to the Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Services the Teenage Cancer Trust have very kindly funded Wifi access in this area, so please do approach the staff again to explore the options available to you.
