"A big thank you to you all from a very grateful Nanna-to-be!"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Maternity care

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter is 34 weeks pregnant and became unwell with palpitations, chest pains and pains in her back and legs. She was advised to visit the labour ward where she was promptly seen by the midwives and doctors.

As the symptoms were suggestive of a pulmonary embolism, routine blood tests and an arterial scan were arranged within an hour of her being seen. Fortunately, a blood clot was ruled out and the blood tests confirmed that she was severely anaemic. She was sent home with an increased dose of iron and an appointment to see the doctor in the antenatal clinic was arranged for the following day.

The care she received was amazing. The nurses and doctors on duty were very reassuring at what was an exceptionally distressing time.

Tameside General Hospital gets a lot of bad press at present and I feel that the hard work and dedication of the staff on the labour ward needs to be recognised.

Hopefull my daughter's pregnancy will proceed without any further problems and it will not be long before we are visiting the labour ward again and leaving with our bundle of joy!

A big thank you to you all from a very grateful Nanna-to-be!

Many thanks for sharing your experience with us via the patient opinion website.

The hospital works hard to ensure an entire patients journey is the best possible care

We will certainly pass on your thanks to all involved.

Kind regards,

John Goodenough

Director of Nursing
