"Awaiting heart bypass"

My father is currently awaiting a tripple heart bypass & a valve replacement. he was admitted a week last Sunday & after several tests his prognosis was the above CABG!!! The doctor came to see him last Friday 25th October and said the op would be performed between 7-10 days. Great that's brilliant! Today the surgeons have been to see him and said it could be between 3-4 weeks. As I work most days and can only visit in the evening it is getting a little bit frustrating for me his daughter? He obviously cannot go home he just has to sit it out! My questions are what is the criteria as who has what first? I can appreciate urgent emergencies, however does this mean that planned outpatients appointments and emergencies come prior to those people taken into hospital (as an emergency)? If this is the case my farther could be waiting a lifetime before his op! Also his emotional state is suffering. It would be 1, good if he could see himself on the list, if one existed & 2, everyone was singing from the same hymn sheet!!
