About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (King's Lynn)

Anything else?

My son has been visiting the ENT department for a few months and was admitted for a operation on his left ear.I cannot praise the specialist and his team highly enough and also the staff on rudham ward for his aftercare. The consultant has been exceptional from our very first visit with him.He knew instantly what was wrong with my son after having months of no answers from gp's and another ent dr.He explained his condition clearly making sure we understood everything, had a great understanding of how to interact with my son and make him feel at ease, included him on everything and treated him with respect. The appointments for ct scan and pre assessments came thru quickly,no long waits. His operation took longer than expected taking 9hrs as it was very complex surgery and more advanced than first thought and we was shown by staff the extent of which he was monitored and well looked after under g.a afterwards.....his vitals were taken every 5 minutes,it sounds silly but it was very reassuring that he had been in good hands after waiting for that amount of time for him to come out of surgery. The staff from the recovery room to rudham ward again were all very polite and informative, respectful, friendly, making my son feel at ease despite obviously being in pain.I loved the fact that we could order food from the same menu to eat with my son at the same time on the ward. The food itself was nice, the restbite restaurant was very reasonably priced with a nice selection of food providing a great alternative to the expensive cafe downstairs. The consultant came round to see him at 8am the next morning with his team and made it clear we could contact his secetary to be seen if we felt something was wrong for that day or the day after-again very reassuring.....the whole experience has made us confident that we are in very capable hands for his future appointments and operations (as its no quick fix by any means) and we (my husband and i) are discussing fundraising ideas for the ENT department as we would like to give something back to the hospital to show our appreciation. It would be great if we could be contacted to see how we can go about doing this.Well done to everyone involved for looking after my son so well.
