"See I told you I was ill !"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

Anything else?

At the beginning of December I decided to have a heart attack at my doctors in St Columb Major, so was then whisked into Treliske by a wonderful ambulance crew and transferred onto MAU, where I have to say the doctors and nurses were absolutely wonderful. The food was good and the ward was very, very clean. Everyone took exceptional care of me . So delighted was I that I decided anther visit was due just over a week later, but I had all the tests and everything seemed to be fine . Went home still feeling poorly and two days later I called another ambulance as I was really feeling low ,who decided I was fine and should see my doctor. Four hours later I called again and saw a Paramedic who also could not see any reason for me to be admiitted, but I insisted as I absolutely knew something was very wrong. My medication had been altered and I presumed it was that that was making me feel impending doom. Wait for it ! Whilst being examinded again by a doctor and a nurse, I decided to have a full on stroke down my right side, lost use of speech, sight , arm and leg. Talk about fast--- I was given the choice of re-hab with drug thinners or be thrombolised, which has a risk associated with it , went for the risk ! Thank God I did ,as I am sitting here recovered and getting my life back to normal. See I told you I was ill> Once again the treatment I received was amazing ,my thanks to all who looked after me ,especially the doctor and her staff. Come on Treliske do something about Phoenix ward, it is the most depressing ward I have ever been in, how the staff manage to do such wonderful nursing under those conditions I don"t know. Once again another lovely doctor in charge of what iI still call Intnsive Care. After a few days I was moved to Barncoose where the wonderful treatment continued. Thank you to everyone XXXXXXXXXX Jean Pyper
