About: Derriford Hospital

Anything else?

I have just returned home from a Quadruple Heart bypass operation carried out on Tuesday 15th October, my Doctor considered me well enough to be discharged by Saturday 19th, however due to limited pharmacy staff at weekends it was not possible to type up the labels to affix to my medication so discharge was held up until Monday 21st. Throughout my stay I was extremely well cared for by all the staff I came into contact with on both Clearbrook and Torrington Wards. Particular mention should be made of a Health Care assistant, who took extra special care to ensure that patients were as comfortable as could be, she was always cheerful and her presence buoyed the whole ward up every time she came in.. Nursing staff were very knowledgeable. The Doctors were also very informative and encouraging. I am amazed at how well I feel so soon after the operation and of course I am very grateful for the Professional care and attention I received throughout.

Good morning

Thank you for contacting Patient Opinion with your feedback regarding your recent inpatient stay following quadruple bypass surgery. I am so pleased that the staff kept you well informed and made sure you and your fellow patients were comfortable. I am sorry that you had to stay in a little longer than necessary due to the medication delay but wish you well with your continuing recovery.

It will be a great pleasure to pass on your comments to the teams involved.

Kind regards

Mary

Good morning,

Further to my last update, I am pleased to confirm that the Pharmacy Department is now open 7 days a week which will further reduce any delays in discharge at a weekend due to medication. Thank you again for your feedback.

Wishing you well,

Mary
