"No communication with patients"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

Anything else?

In the out patients there is no communication between staff and patients, the waiting times are beyond a joke when your sick it's the last place you want to be ever. In all the years it is the worst hospital outpatients department.

Thank you for your comment. We are very sorry to hear that your experience at our Outpatients department was not to your satisfaction. I would like to reassure you that all staff are aware of our Trust protocol for announcing delays on clinic. I regret that this did not appear to occur on this occasion. I would like to reassure you that the importance of effective communication within clinic will be reinforced with all relevant staff. Unfortunately TVs which are used to display delays are not currently in use in some of our clinics at the moment, however I would like to reassure you that new TVs will be in place very soon. This system however does not replace our practice of announcing delays and ensuring our patients are kept informed of the progress of the clinic. Denise Reay Outpatients
