"I was offered an outpatients appointment ..."

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was offered an outpatients appointment (Opthalmology) quicker than any other hospital in the area. The nurses were very personable and provided me with much information.

What could be improved

The doctor was very abrupt, they did not inform me what they were going to do to my eyes, nor did they tell me why they were doing it - the nurses had to tell me later when I asked. When I asked the doctor questions their answers were not clear, and their overall people-skills were very poor. I have no confidence in the diagnosis - as a result I am seeking a second opinion.

Also I have been visiting a relative who has a long-term illness. I have visited everyday for the last 3 weeks, I have been told that I can apply for a parking pass/permit after 4 weeks, which will cost me £10 extra plus a £20 deposit (which I will get back). I find this extortionate. This means that I will have paid £56 over the 4 weeks, and am then expected to pay a futher £10. I am the only relative this person has, and I find it unbelievable that I have to pay this extortionate amounts to visit - I think this should be reviewed.
