Continued from my story back in June!
My father in law was sent home after suspected gall stones and was told he needed an MRI. he was discharged and had to wait a further 2 hrs for his prescription, all he needed was the antibiotics he had been prescribed but they insisted on giving him a full set of all his medication which he already has a drawful at home! What a waste of money.
6 weeks later he had his scan at Solihull and has never received his results.
3 weeks ago he was admitted to University hospital Coventry with pancreatitis probably caused by the untreated gall stones! He was discharged from there because they needed his bed. They could have removed the gall stones with an endoscopy there and then but they wanted a scan so discharged him to wait for a scan.
His GP then received a letter from university hospital Coventry to say he should be referred back to Heartlands for the scan results. He is still waiting for an appointment to get these results.
This is terrible for someone of 85 who has worked all his life to be passed about like this. Why is there a separate pc system in each area surely in this day and age hospitals should be linked to access records.
I thought there was patient choices. He doesn't want to go to heartlands after the way he was treated last time.
Why is it so difficult to get a simple result?
"poor service and communication"
