I fell ill in dec last year, l steadily got worse. In january my neighbours and friends who have my spare door key came in and when they saw me they said l looked deathly ill. They called an ambulance and all I remember was that there were a team of doctors at my bedside, one of which told me l was lucky to be alive.
I do not remember much else in the high dependancy ward. My brother who asked all the questions said the abscesses that I had all around my back and stomach, one of which was the size of a grapefruit. I was very ill and lost 2 and a half stone because I could not eat due to the septicemia and l got thrush in my mouth so just drinking water hurt.
It has been a hard slog but l am on the mend and have a strong spirit. My christian faith helped me. Plus l lost my beloved husband to cancer last april. The hospital was magnificent at Hull
