"There was no information about what to expect during the appointment"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS) The Princess Royal Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

When the TRAQS person first contact me she was unable to provide answers to my questions.

Subsequently when I received the appointment letter, there was no information about what to expect during the appointment.

I underwent a hysteroscopy and very painful biopsy at this first appointment which I had not expected.

If I had known, I could have brought someone to drive me home afterwards. A tier of management has been added but less information is being provided to the patient.

Thank you for taking the time to write to TRAQS.

I am sorry that you felt there was a lack of information when we made our initial contact with you. However, at the time of making an appointment TRAQS has no information concerning what is likely to happen at your first appointment, nor would be right for us to venture an opinion on this matter. TRAQS has been established as a booking service for an initial appointments only and our staff are not medically trained.

Generally hospital and clinics also provide written confirmation of your appointment and this will generally include advice regarding procedures likely to be undertaken.

I am sorry that you experienced some discomfort as a result of investigative procedures undertaken and wish you well for the future.
