About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as a service user),

Who is TRAQS? No introduction or explanation that they provide.

No comprehension that I can't immediately commit to a date there and then to hospitals in different towns, with poor public transport links after telling me I can't drive to the appointment and would need someone with me.

I would only expect my GP to have minimal involvement as my referral was requested by my optician.

Thank you taking time to provide TRAQS with your feedback. TRAQS stands for The Telford Referral and Quality Service.

I am disappointed to note that you were not aware of TRAQS and how your referral was to be processed. If your optician decides that you need to be referred to a hospital/clinic they will pass this referral onto your GP. Your GP will then send this referral onto TRAQS where we will aim to contact the patient with 5 working days from receipt of the referral from the GP.

TRAQS was developed in June 2012 by Telford and Wrekin PCT to ensure patients are offered a Choice of where they can be seen. In the past you may have expected to go to a hospital for your treatment. Now there are a number of alternatives such as GP Surgeries and health centres. Telford and Wrekin CCG are always looking for new ways of providing care nearer to where patients live in their local community. Most people choose to be seen at their local hospital but you do have a choice and can if you wish choose to travel further for an earlier appointment date. We are sorry to hear that you were unable to commit to any of the appointment dates/times that were offered to you.

It appears that your referral was to see an ophthalmologist which may require you to have drops put in to your eyes resulting in blurred vision. For your safety it is always advisable for you to be accompanied as you will not be able to drive for a couple of hours afterwards.
