"I was admitted to Burns unit last ..."

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was admitted to Burns unit last July. After 3 days i developed Pancreatetitus, and transferred to ICU, then mutliple organ failure and septicemia. I spent almost 5 weeks in ICU-over 4 of these on life support. For the first 3 weeks ,my wife and family were told by staff they did'nt hold out much hope for me, I do not recall a great deal for the time spent in ICU,except it was 1 long dream + nightmare at the same time after ripping out tubes from my body on several occasions, and being very violent and aggressive to staff, for my own safer i was restrained to my bed !, On a brighter note i will be eternally grateful to the doctor/consultant(even though a city fan !) and the fantastic wonderful caring team on ICU,for saving my life and giving me a second chance at living, and for not holding it against me for being such a naughty boy during my stay with them,Was transferred to A6 then to recover, and again highest praise to all the staff for care ,encouregment and support , during my stay, and for setting up aftercare support . I consider myself very fortunate to have been transferred to wythenshawe, A marvellous Hospital + wonderful staff, If people wish to complain it would be nice if they were brave enough not to use an anonymous name !!!!!!

What could be improved

The very small minority of staff who were not of the medical / qualified nurses, team .Who have no empathy with a patient , and manhandle patients (delibertly) . This happened to me on more than 1 occasion by the same person during my stay , because i was restrained and not able to talk , i could not complain, i am still angry about , but this is no reflection on the

99.9 percent of the fantastic wonderful staff
