I completed 37 days of Radiotherapy treatment at Rosemere, Preston on March 8th .but have waited until after my appointment to write to you. I have to say that from the moment I entered Rosemere I have had nothing but a very good experience. I would even go as far as to say that though I have no further need of RT treatment, I actually miss not going any more. This is because I have been treated so well. I was treated in LA1 most of the time by a team I can only congratulate for their courtesy, kindness and understanding of what my needs were. I suppose everyone who enters LA1 is facing a life threatening illness on some level. I was informed that my prostate cancer was aggressive and had no idea what to expect. They explained the process on arrival and showed me the ‘machinery’. I was immediately put at ease. My wife who was more frightened for me than I was, was reassured. The process began and there was no intimidation at all in being told to partially undress and lie on the scanner/treatment bed. The attitude of the staff was clearly for my comfort and ease. Their attention to the detail of lining me up and telling me what was to happen, to answering my questions, and leaving me in comfort never failed. They seemed to have good mixture of professionality, kindness and, as appropriate, good humour. So I now, seemingly on a good road to coping with the cancer, can only pass on my heartfelt gratitude for the excellent service your department provides. + So in thanking you, I thank, as far as I can remember: The nurses, the doctor and her team in excellent attention to my condition, and my GP for her recognition of a possible prostate problem early enough for it to be formally diagnose and treated. It is now six months since the radiotherapy was completed, and I am happy to report a further reduced PSA and really excellent health. Thank You NHS Frank Picken
