I liked the friendliness of staff: the bedside manner of the consultant and his team.

Times between meals - breakfast finished at 9.30 a.m. Lunch arrives at 12.30 p.m and finishes at 1.30 p.m. and Dinner arrives at 5.30 p.m.

Thank you for your kind comments about the friendliness of the consultant and his team. Your comments have been passed to the staff of ward 40, who, I am sure, will be very pleased to read them.

Anyone referring to your comments should be aware that meal times vary across the hospital. However, each ward is required to display visiting times prominently at the entrance. The Trust operates a “protected meal times” policy, which in excluding non essential visitors at meal times aims to ensure that patients have rest, quiet and sufficient time whilst they dine, and to enable staff to devote themselves to ensuring that anyone who needs assistance can be given it. However, visiting times can always discussed with the nurse in charge of the ward, who has the authority to vary the times in light of particular circumstances.

I am sorry not to have responded sooner. However, Tameside General Hospital has only recently obtained the facility to reply to comments made on this website.
