I have been looked after by this Department at the RVI for a few years now and have found the care I receive there second to none. I usually only have to wait an hour for my consultations and only on two occasions waited in excess of two hours,considering the vast number of patients in the Department at any one time,this is excellent. I am always treated with empathy,I use a mobility appliance,I cannot fault the care i receive and having lived in the north east for ten years I can honestly say from experience in other parts of the country, we are very lucky "up North" to have such excellent medical care

Thank you for your kind comments and 5 star rating of the Ophthalmology Department at the RVI. We acknowledge that there can be delays in some clinics and we thank you for your patience when you have experienced a wait in the Newcastle Eye Centre. This is often down to the fact that we endeavour to operate a ‘one stop shop’ so that if patients require treatment or procedures then we do these on the day rather than asking the patient to return to the hospital at a later date. That notwithstanding we are continually looking at how we can make these clinics more efficient and therefore offer a more positive experience for the patient. We have shared your feedback with the staff in the Department. Thank you once again.
