I went in for a small procedure (ingrown toe nail) in October and stayed on Woodland Ward for a week owing to complications as I have a neurological condition.
From start to finish I was very impressed. The staff on Woodland Ward were very kind, thorough, friendly, efficient and attentive.
My room was regularly cleaned and so was the bathroom and I was impressed that before meals you are given a wipe to eliminate MRSA etc. Gloves/hand sanitisers were used by staff all the time and hygiene/infection control was very apparent and impressive.
I was needing personal care whilst in ie washing/taking to toilet as had very low blood pressure and was feeling very giddy but I was always treated with dignity and kindness which made things so much better. I was showered and amazed they made time for things like that as they are very busy and work so hard.
I was needing care when I came home and they arranged all this so that nurses have been coming out to me and they also gave me items of equipment to make life easier when I got home (toilet frame etc).
I can't fault Woodland Ward, I managed to sleep very well as they allowed you to have your door shut which cut down on noise etc. All the staff on the ward have a very good rapport with each other and was lovely to hear them having some banter, they appeared very happy in their work. Although I felt sick most of the time I was there owing to BP problems, the food I did have was not bad at all even the Porridge!
I am very grateful that I went to Woodland Ward and feel very lucky that I received such good care. Thanks.
"Fantastic care on Woodland Ward"
