Your survey questions are seriously management led, misguiding and need to be addressed promptly!. For example : *. Cleanliness- the ward hospitality staff appear to be working very hard in poor and cramped surroundings. There appears to be little in the way of sluice / bathroom facilities and storage. Consequently, the ability to take a shower is difficulty as there is always a freestanding mobility appliance and bin in front of the wash basin and used bedpans in the shower area ? waiting for testing/ measuring. I have had only one shower, which was in another part of the ward, since my admission last Monday. I am finding this quite stressful. Working well together: I am not completely reassured by this. In my opinion, there is an imbalance of trained and non trained staff. The untrained staff carry out a number of clinical duties for which I have no problem with. However, my concern is that some of the findings are not always discussed with the senior member of staff. I do have personal experience of this! * you ask about being the service user being afforded dignity. Confidentiality has a major part in this issue. At RSCH, there appears to be no safe areas where diagnosis and Care plans may be discussed. Consequently, without wishing to listen, I am made aware of most of the medical details for the other women in the ward where I am currently staying. These details, which I believe should be highly confidential, include newly diagnosed cancer and scabies. So far, all the women on this ward seem to have been treated with kindness and respect by the medical and nursing teams. Yet, I have been unable to score this dignity question highly because of the privacy issues, which I may add are not the fault of medial or nursing staff! This is a management issue. Mixed wards: I am now in a same sex ward, though when I underwent a procedure on the Millenium wing in Sepember 2013, the ward was a mixed one. I am aware that this form is just a tick box exercise for the managers so that requirements from even higher rankig managers may be addressed, but it might give me some reassurance if I thought that you were taking my comments seriously and sorting ways to address these issues. I do know of other people who have complained about all of the above issues in the past, though as far as we are aware, nothing has been addressed.
