"Patient care post operation"

About: Colchester General Hospital

Anything else?

The operation although successful in respect to the actual hip joint the accompanying damage to muscles and nerves has detracted from that success the patient is now a cripple. The consultant surgeon chosen did not conduct the operation and in fact the surgeon who carried out the operation never examined or had contact with the patient prior to the operation and was never seen again post operation so is unaware of the damage caused.

I apologise you’ve not had a good patient experience. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. We would like the opportunity to discuss your experiences more fully and to apologise in person. If you are willing I would appreciate it if I could ask the matron to contact you. Could you email me, using the reference “General Surgery at RDEE4-Colchester General Hospital at 11/10/2013 11:15:45”, please? Many thanks Paul Searle, Head of Communications Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
