I have posted before about a very long stay in this hospital last year. I still stand by the post, saying what a positive experience it was,

This week I was sent to accident and emergency with acute abdominal pain, vomiting, and a bad chest. The nursing home sent a carer with me, along with a list of my extensive medications and allergies. I was examined by a very pleasant s.h.o, sent for x-rays and had bloods taken. My temp was raised, and BP had dropped to 80/30, so I was cannulated in order to have fluids. Staff nurse came to administer paracetamol which is on my list of allergies. Returned with ibuprofen. I am asthmatic. I asked for pain relief, told not available. Examined by senior doctor who assured me he would get to bottom of problem but had to decide whether to admit via surgery or medicine. Carer sent away.

Hour later am told will be sent home with antibiotics: beds at a premium. Am one of several people to be told this, not a prob per se.

The part of the hospital I visited was run down and dirty. Nurses I met were unhelpful when I moved to CDU to await transport. The rumours around hospital and in Rotherham is that the place is leaking money and will ultimately close pending privatisation. The change in 8 months since my last visit was awful. If the rumours are true, I believe it deserves to close.
