I would like to put on record my care at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Scotland.
I am 71 and I was treated at the Victoria Hospital in June 2013 suffering from cellulitis resulting from and infected hairline fracture to the fibula. I also had an allergic reaction to penicillin, which added to my distress as angry irritating rashes appeared over the rest of my body, which had never happened to me before.
I am writing to inform you of the wonderful treatment I received from various consultants and nursing staff from the moment I was admitted on the first evening. I was thoroughly examined and blood tests and urine samples taken. The cellulitis was quite severe progressing up my left leg to the knee with swelling and blistering and I was feeling pretty down.
When the rashes appeared, it was obvious to the doctors that I was experiencing an allergic reaction and that I would need a different antibiotic. I was so impressed with the sensitivity and care I was receiving that I said to myself I would express this to the staff on my discharge and write to the hospital to thank them profusely for the professional way I was handled. Since my discharge from the Victoria someone pointed out an article to me from the 'Daily Record and Sunday Mail' in May 2013 which strongly criticises the hospital. I am from London and spent most of my holiday in Scotland in the care of the Victoria Hospital so I would like to put on record my sincere thanks for the warmth, care and treatment I received there.
"Wonderful treatment"
