This is my second c section but my first experience of steroid injections for an elective c section, the information I was given once I spoke to the right people was great and very in depth which put my mind at ease and helped make my decision. On the day of the steroid injections the midwives in MAC Maternity Assessment Clinic were really lovely despite being very busy, over running on appointments and dr shortage, they remained cool calm and collected and very professional and friendly. This was also my pre op assessment too and i was given lots of information about the c section - again very thorough and I was seen quickly despite the build up of patients and the process was calm. The steroid injection (in my arm)did hurt more than I expected it to but it soon went down and the second injection was in my bum and hurt just as much but again soon went down. The midwives were friendly throughout and listened to my concerns, checking out baby and giving good advice through both my appointments. I would recommend a leaflet being produced on steroid injections for elective c section ladies as this would have helped me be less anxious and make my decision quicker. All in all though a great service the midwives there should be commended for their patience and friendliness in such a stressful environment.
