"This hospital has been a god send ..."

About: Sir Alfred Jones Memorial Hospital (Acute)

(as the patient),

What I liked

This hospital has been a god send for me.

I like just round the corner and it has saved so much hassle trying to get to Liverpool city centre everytime i need outpatient treatment - I'm 28, disabled with mobility problems (use walking sticks and/or a wheelchair) and the hospital makes my life so much easier.

I attend regularly for Blood tests (never more than a 10-15 min wait), Physio and acupuncture everyweek (both never more than a 5-8min wait).

I am also accident-prone and have had to go to the minor Injuries/ A&E dept there many times for drills through foot/ concussion/ etc etc. You name it. The fantastic thing is, it is always a personal service as so small a hospital.. Easy to park (though difficult for Blue badge holders as there are only 2 bays and non-BB holders are always in them), and the distance between car and treatment rooms is easily the best out of all the hospitals in Liverpool/Merseyside.

The waiting time for the minor injuries is normally no more than 30mins, even on a busy day and you don't get that anywhere these days!! I've been to The Royal Liverpool many a time and still been waiting to be seen 4 hours later.

This hospital is run like a little 'family' of staff and they are all so lovely and pleasant. I just hope that funding continues for this hospital as it's always these little ones that suffer when cutbacks are made.

As for hygiene etc. What can I say? It's not pristine but again, is anywhere these days? We cannot blame the staff when they are constantly under-funded, over-budget and poorly paid, let alone drastically understaffed. More funding in place for all our NHS hospitals would allow for better conditions all round.

What could be improved

Monitor the Blue Badge bays. I've had to miss an appointment before due to not being able to park in a bay andthus unable to walk the distance from the top end of the car park :(
