This was my first experience of outpatient treatment at Eastbourne. On arrival, I was impressed by the efficiency and pleasant helpfulness of the receptionist in Waiting Area B2. Even although I was early and my appointment time had not been reached, the nurse came into the waiting area to speak individually to those of us who were to see him to say that he was delayed. She kept us informed. In fact, he was on time for my appointment. Although the area was very busy with a number of consultants to service, I observed that all staff in the waiting area were pleasant, cheerful, helpful to all patients, and efficient, too. I was impressed. And the doctor was a most helpful specilaist.. It was more like a social visit than a consultation and I came away feeling that I had been well cared for. I spend a lot of time in hospital OPDs in London for my various ailments, but I liked my visit to Eastbourne OPD, which rather surprised me - but of course it shouldn't! However, I think the hospital car park charges are shocking and exploitative. And only 15 spaces, near to the OPD entrance for Blue Badge (BB) holders is quite inadequate. When that's full, BB holders must pay to use the ordinary car park - doesn't happen anywhere else in my experience, not even with Train station CPs. That part took the gloss of the visit. The Trust should revisit their CP policy and administration.
