my daughter is sixteen and had her baby on the 1st of march the she had a c section the surgions and delivery team were absolutely amazing but once on the ward her care was less than poor she was not helped through the night she was left in bed until 1pm although the doctor stated she had to be up and about asap due to bload transfusion and the midwife did not ask her if she need any pain relief my daughter being so young didnt no she could have some in the end she was so distresed as her nan and grandad came all the way from london was not able to see her they were sent home and i was told i also was not alowed in with her as you can imagine how upset she was when we got home the gases were traped in her body so we had to rush back as she was in such pain the midwife who dealt with her was the most uncaring person i have ever met all she was interested in was what time you could visit after some pain relief and peppermint oil she came back home with me the care was so poor due to midwifes thinking they have so much power the doctor had left notes for the midwife to take a bload test to check the gases in aimees bload that morning but by two oclock it had not been done when i asked why she said she wanted to check with the doctor weather she should do it or not surely if a doctor tells a midwife to do something she should do it without question i feel i also had my six year old son in your hospital six years ago and once again the care was poor i had a condition called colistosis i kept coming in saying i felt poorly and not well and as i have four kids i should no when something is not right the doctor said im not delivering that baby then two hours later he came back in a suit to apologize and say he has to deliver the baby as soon as possible as the bload test had shown a problem if i had not insisted something was wrong who nos what would have happened i feel to many patients are turned away and without anyone caring what the outcome will be i would never recommend anyone to have a baby at colchester hospital although not all the team are the same there are some rely caring staff it makes me feel the bad care from some should be addressed just because aimee is sixteen there should of been more support for her and her parents after all we are the ones that no what is best and leaving her all night on her own texting and begging me to come to her is not good for someone who has just had a baby there are certain situations that rules are meant to be broken the nurse who looked after her was absolutely dreadful

I apologise you’ve not had a good patient experience. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. We would like the opportunity to discuss your experiences more fully and to apologise in person. If you are willing I would appreciate it if I could ask the matron to contact you. Could you email me, using the reference “Maternity service at RDEE4-Colchester General Hospital at 04/10/2013 11:11:18”, please? Many thanks Paul Searle, Head of Communications Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
