"Well looked after on Deene A"

About: Kettering General Hospital

Anything else?

I was admitted to hospital late Saturday evening in September with abdominal pain and sent to Deene A. I had blood tests and scans immediately followed by another scan (which I had booked as an outpatient a few weeks earlier) on the Monday. The care I received was excellent. The consultant patiently explained his diagnosis and the doctors who discharged me were very clear about the next steps and follow up appointments/operation. On the ward, the nurses were available, approachable and caring, as were the Healthcare Assistants. The only negative was that despite the consultants and everyone being aware of my scan on the Monday, no one was sent to collect me, as the ultrasound dept were not aware I was admitted. It seems that there was a lack of communication within the hospital but I had the scan a couple of hours after I should have and was released from hospital that evening. The junior doctor also had problems inserting the cannula, which was horrific. I will be asking for someone from pathology to come and do it when I have my operation in a few months time!
