What I liked

I went to the walk in centre on 12/01/2008. After waiting over two hours to be seen I was told i needed to be admitted, due to abdominal pain and severe nausea. I was referred to the RSO and sent round to the main accident and emergency dept. The doctor I was seeing was in theatre and I had a wait of several hours. 3.5 hours after arriving I had to ask for pain reflief. 3 hours later I had to ask for anti sickness and still hadnt seen the dr. I had blood taken and finally got in a cubicle where I could b e more comfortable. The RSO finally saw me and sent me for an xray. Then I was told that despite being in pain and unable to keep anything down I was to be discharged. When I was sent home I still had a needle in my arm. My total time at the hospital was nearly 11 hours. I had 2 lots of pain relief and had to ask for it, it was never offered. But the nurses were very good when I did ask.

What could be improved

Better system so patients in a lot of pain are not kept waiting seven hours to finally see the right dr. Patients should be offered pain relief and anti sickness instead of having to ask for it. I felt like the dr was not taking me seriously enough.
