"Admission to the A&E Unit"

About: St Peter's Hospital (Chertsey)

Anything else?

This is a belated review and I apologize for not doing so earlier. I was admitted to the A&E Unit on December 23 last year after I found that morning I had an irregular and fast heart beat of 127 per minute. When I arrived I was greeted very nicely by the Nurse on duty at the Reception Desk and I explained my problem and that I had been sent by my local Health Practice Out of Hours Treatment Centre. I was called by the A&E Duty Nurse within 5 minutes of registering and taken into an assessment and treatment bed bay facility and was immediately seen by a doctor and his team. I had numerous tests and he explained that I had developed Atrial Fibrillation which needed urgent medication in the first instance. I was given this and monitored for about 5 hours after which he discharged me with medication to last me through the Christmas holiday and to see my GP soonest for additional medication. I was also told to return if I felt unwell. The excellent treatment I received could not be faulted in any way and this all two days before Christmas! With further treatment over the past 8 months I have made a full recovery to good health and I cannot thank St.Peter's enough. My wife and take much comfort that we have a such an efficient hospital in our area and I cannot thank the staff enough.

Thank you for you positive comments about our A&E team which we have passed onto them. We are so pleased to hear that you received good and prompt treatment and have gone on to make a full recovery. Many thanks again.
